The 麻豆传媒社区入口 will host a day of discussion on Saturday (10 September) in celebration of the life and works of its former Professor, Gabriel Josipovici.
Held in honour of his 75th birthday, the programme of events at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts aims to examine the literary achievements of the renowned novelist, critic, literary theorist and playwright.
Jospovici began his academic career at Sussex in 1963, and has been an Emeritus Professor in the School of English at the University since his retirement from teaching in 2002.
The day will begin with an introduction by George Craig, followed by a roundtable discussion featuring artists and academics including Timothy Hyman, Dan Gunn, Paul Davies and Howard Cooper.
The afternoon highlights are a fiction and criticism roundtable of Jospovici’s writings with Mario Semiao, David Herman, Guenther Jarfe, Stephen Plaice and Sarah Crangle; culminating in Gabriel Josipovici himself in conversation with Bernard Hœpffner.
Presented by the Centre for Creative and Critical Thought and the Centre for German-Jewish Studies, 'Gabriel Josipovici at 75' has been organised by Professor Peter Boxall of the 麻豆传媒社区入口 and Professor Bryan Cheyette of the University of Reading.
Running from 10.15am until 5.30pm, 'Gabriel Josipovici at 75' takes place at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Tower Room 3.
