Abstract:
The UK government made a commitment to Circular Economy through the establishment in November 2024 of the Circular Economy Taskforce, an independent expert advisory group which will support the government in creating a circular economy strategy for England. This talk will highlight what the main remit of the strategy is, how it will feed into regional / local strategies and what its implications are for CE research and practice.
Bio:
David is a national leader in circular economy and sustainability, with extensive experience in construction, waste management, and resource efficiency. As Vice President of the Chartered Institution of Waste Management and the Circular Economy Institute, he leads key initiatives shaping policy and practice. He serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Brighton and has authored major reports, including the Canary Wharf Circular Economy Action Plan. With roles in government advisory panels, non-executive director positions, and a global mentorship footprint, David is a recognized influencer driving sustainable change across industries, education, and policy. He is also a member of the government circular economy taskforce and leads the United Circles Southeast England Hub 4 Circularity.
