Module Outline
Urban issues are an increasingly important area for global development. This module will introduce students to the most pressing issues around urban development, from colonial origins to questions of informality, infrastructures as well as access and rights to the city. The emphasis is on endowing students with a critical awareness of urban development issues, but also tools and methodologies to think about potential responses to questions of urban equality and sustainability. These will be brought together in the assessment in the form of a research project. In addition, the module will have an experiential component with a field trip.
