Professor Lizzi Milligan, University of Bath
11 February, 11-12:30
/ Zoom Webinar (register to recieve the link!)
"Drawing on recent research projects in Rwanda and Uganda, I will reflect on the ways that strict English-prioritised policies contribute to secondary school students' epistemic exclusion in the classroom. I will further argue that this has significant implications for the role that education is expected to play in contributing to 'sustainable development', for example, towards peaceful societies, gender equality and climate action."
Lizzi O. Milligan is Professor of Education and Global Social Justice in the University of Bath's Department of Education, where she is also the Departmental Director of Research and REF lead. She has led two ESRC projects related to education and social justice, working collaboratively with scholars in Rwanda, Nepal, Peru and Uganda.
