Intellectual Property: Industrial Property (M6076)

Spring teaching

You’ll explore aspects of industrial property subjects, including:

  • the law of patents
  • passing off
  • unregistered and registered trade marks.

You’ll be introduced to the principles of intellectual property law and its philosophical and economic justifications. You will also take part in in-depth analysis of particular issues in the law and policy of intellectual property, such as access to medicines.

The focus of the module will be on UK law and policy, however reference will be made to EU and international law where relevant.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 21 hours of contact time and about 129 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
